The Springfield Design Association will be awarding two scholarships valued at $550.  

 

Requirements to Apply

  1. Undergraduate student enrolled full-time at Missouri State University.

  2. Junior or Senior standing in the Interior Design Program.

  3. Students must have a minimum overall GPA of 2.5.

  4. 3.0 GPA or higher in the Interior Design Major.

  5. You may not have previously received the scholarship.

How to Apply

  • Fill out the online application, attach the requirements listed below, and submit online. You will receive an email confirmation.

  • Complete the following requirements:

    • Letter of recommendation(s).

    • Degree Audit. 

    • Essay of minimum of 3,000 words including the below:

      • Career Goals

      • What clubs, organizations, and activities you participate in (may include campus or community related activities)

      • What honors, awards and/or scholarships have you received

      • Why you should be considered as a serious candidate for this scholarship.

  • After the submission deadline, Springfield Design Association will reach out to each applicant to their MSU e-mail to schedule the scholarship interview. 

  • Interviews will be conducted between April 19, 2023 and April 21, 2023. 

  • Bring hard copies of your completed requirements and example(s) of interior design projects – digital or physical project examples with you to your interview. If presenting a digital project, please bring all necessary equipment to present.

What to Expect During the Judging Interview

  • Each student will meet with a judge who is a Springfield Design Association Professional Designer.

  • Judge(s) will judge each applicant based on the following on a scale from 1-5 with the maximum of 20 possible points. 

    • Professionalism: Level of professionalism student exhibits during interview.

    • Preparedness:  Level of motivation in student exhibit by having the listed requirements items with them at the interview

    • Display/Presentation Attribute: Level of organization student exhibit while presenting the required information. If submitting a digital project example, please bring what technology is needed to presented with you during your interview.

    • Overall, Skills, Involvement and Presence.

 

What to Expect if/when Awarded Scholarship

  • $550 Scholarship is a one-time award that will be added to the awarded student(s) MSU account and is expected to show in the following January.

  • Students who won will be notified via e-mail sent from the Champion of the SDA student involvement committee, Crystal Monahan, to their MSU e-mail at the beginning of Fall semester in August.

  • Students who won will be given 2 tickets to attend the Salute to Construction banquet at the Oasis Convention Center in November where they will be recognized for receiving the scholarship.
